Autoresponders
No business should be without an autoresponder. Auto responders
automatically send out e-mail (reminders, newsletters, job ads, performance
surveys, whatever you want to send) at intervals you specify.
For example, they can be set up to automatically send out your standard
'we received your resume' letter.
Do you have a list of passive job hunters that are employed and just
keeping their eyes open for the dream job? It wouldn't take much work
to break these candidates into categories, enter them into your autoresponder/mailing
list, and send them a 'Hot Jobs' list targeted to their category at some
regular frequency.
Do you have any clients that might welcome a list of hot candidates?
This doesn't mean that you stop calling on your clients, only that you
try to offer more ways of interaction. Especially if these interactions
don't require a lot of effort.
Below are a few guidelines for using autoresponders
no matter which autoresponder service you choose:
- Format your e-mails to 60 characters or less per line so that the
e-mail lines break properly on e-mail clients that don't automatically
wrap the line.
- Choose an auto responder that offers automatic removal of people who
have chosen to unsubscribe.
- Only e-mail to people who have requested information from you or have
given their approval to receive your e-mails. DO NOT send
e-mails to random e-mail addresses or purchased lists of e-mail addresses
or you may have your e-mail account cancelled.
- Make sure there is either no limit to the size of your e-mails you
can send or that the limit is reasonable.
- Unless you don't mind spending the time with data entry, make sure
there is a way to automatically import your mailing list.
- Be sure that people can subscribe to an auto responder (mailing list,
newsletter, etc) by e-mailing to a link. That way it can be automated
and you don't have to enter new subscribers manually.
Keep in mind that most free auto responders will tack advertisements
for unrelated products and services onto your messages. This is
not the route you will want to go if you are running a business since
these ads will detract from your professional image.
There are hundreds of auto responders available. The following
are some we recommend.

Web
Marketing Magic Walling Info Systems uses this service! While
it is more expensive than the other autoresponders, it has many more features
than the others. If you were to go out and purchase the other features
separately, it would end up costing you much more than this service.
Some of the other features include a popup generator, an ad tracker that
tells you how many people have responded to an ad and even has a shopping
cart feature that you can use to create your own online store.
