Search criteria can be customized to fit your specific needs and goals. Information is pulled from thousands of different databases and other information sources and compiled into one convenient report.

Accufacts Accufacts offers criminal history reports, credit reports, social security reports, driving record history, education verification, employment verification, professional reference checks, personal reference checks and exit Interviews.  In additional, they offer customer service personality assessments.

Avert - Avert can help determine what background checks apply to your business needs.  Avert can also aid in developing interview and application questions.  Their website contains a guide to regulations regarding employment screening, hiring stats and a hiring solutions book.

Backgrounds Online - Backgrounds Online provides complete background screening information from a variety of public record, non-public record and proprietary sources.  They also say they have one of the largest public record databases in the country.  Their website also explains their screening process.  Checks include the following: identity verification by SSN, identity verification by name, public record scan, credit report, criminal history searches, national wants and warrants, employment verification, education verification, credential verification, reference checks, workers compensation, and driver's record checks.

ChoicePoint ChoicePoint offers two primary products for background checking.  AutoTrackXP and ChoicePoint Online provide Internet access to more than 14 billion current and historical records on individuals and businesses, and allow users to browse through those records instantly. With as little information as a name or Social Security number, both products cross-reference public and proprietary records including identity verification information, relatives and associates, corporate information, real property records and deed transfers. In addition, they provide access to a staff of field researchers who perform county, state and federal courthouse searches.  Their products and services include, but are not limited to pre-employment services, public records information, business and professional credentialing, insurance, and DNA identification and testing.  They offer FREE regional training seminars which are held at ChoicePoint' s Training Centers in California, Florida, Georgia & Virginia as well as other locations throughout the United States.  They also offer e-classes online.

Creative Services Creative Services offers pre-employment screening, screening support services and security consulting which they stress in combination with screening to combat loss.  By combining sophisticated questionnaires, field investigation, interviewing skills and computer-generated information, they develop profiles and assess the validity of the information they obtain.

D & D Employment Screening D&D offers as little as a thirty minute turn-around time (depending on your location) on the following: Social Security Number verification, criminal records check, civil records check, pre-employment assessment, credit check.  They also offer substance abuse screening, pre-placement physicals, DMV record check, worker's compensation search, and education/employment history verification.

Docusearch You can do a wide variety searches through DocuSearch including various types of criminal searches.  For many of them, if there's no hit, there's no fee.  This company also offers business searches, so you can get a list of your clients' affiliations.

Equifax This is a well-know source for credit checks.  They also do OFAC (Office of Foreign Assets Control) screening to let you know if OFAC considers your client companies or employees to be affiliated with hostile foreign governments.

TR Information Services In South Carolina, prices are as follows for respective single searches: $22 county criminal,  $32 state criminal,  $25 workers comp, $13 driving records,  $24 tag or VIN search.  You can also call 1-800-894-9141 for corporate rates.

They also offer on-site drug testing kits.

Information Resources Their searches and background checks are geared specifically toward the staffing and HR industry, so they know what is necessary to avoid negligent hiring suits.  They offer criminal record search, employment verification, credit reports, driver's license verification, education verification, Social Security trace, civil record search, reference check services, professional license search, business credit report, business license, and workers compensation search.

Informus They are the makers of IntroScan which allows you to search Internet databases.  It includes the following: Social Security Number search, Social Security issuance state and date, address verification and validation, telephone verification and validation, Social Security death records, nationwide fugitive search, employment termination report search.  They also offer the standard background searches.  Before ordering, you can see a sample report so you will know exactly what to expect from the service.

NEDPC NEDPC does drug testing (including hair testing, field test kits and saliva drug testing as an alternative to urine testing), background checks and DNA testing.  Turn around times are listed on their website for your reference.

Staftrack Employment screening. StafTrack was founded to help companies in their struggle to defend against losses arising from negligence, theft, fraud, D.O.T. audits and damages due to worker's compensation claims.  They have been providing background information for 11 years.

US Datalink US Datalink has a straightforward list of services and prices for both individual and company background searches.  There is a printable online brochure with detailed information on US Datalink, their turn-around times, sample reports, etc.  You can also subscribe to the service via Internet, fax or via their software package (this allows you to receive reports by e-mail).  Reports are processed in 24 to 48 hours, and information is deemed current.  Billing is primarily by credit card but you can call them for alternate arrangements.

Xukor Information Services In addition to the standard searches, Zukor also checks employment history back seven years.  Their online presentation gives good information on what to look out for when considering a person for employment.  Pricing is listed on their website.

SSN Validation They offer software that checks Social Security Number to determine the following: if the number is impossible and will never be issued by the Social Security Administration; if the SSN is valid, but has not been issued by the SSA; if it is valid, issued, and considered a pocketbook SSN.  If an optional date-of-birth is entered, SSNDTECT will warn the user if the SSN was issued prior to the date-of-birth and provide the current age and date when the SSN was issued; if the SSN is valid, issued, and listed as deceased; and if the SSN is valid and has been issued.

Online Detective 3.0 Software for background searching on the Internet.  Cost is $9.95 for 3-day trial, $49.95 per 60 days, or $59.95 per 90 days.
