  Recruiting and Staffing Resource Guide

In order to be most effective in today's fast paced world of recruiting, you must find ways to leverage technology. You must find ways to implement cost effective automation to your business while still providing your clients with that personal touch. Many people might suggest that business automation and customer service are mutually exclusive; but this is not true. By automating non value added processes, you will have time to concentrate on your clients' needs instead of doing mundane tasks over and over again.

Since everyone's business processes are slightly different, it will be up to you to decide whether a specific resource or technique is applicable to you. When you look at some of these resources, try to not think about how you have always done things. Instead, concentrate on how a new idea might give you a competetive advantage or might allow you to automate one of those repetetive, time consuming, busy work type of tasks.

A simple system for Recruiting

In it's simplest form, you can break the break recruiting technology into 3 main aspects:

  • Automate and track your sales and placement activities. You need to have all of the information concerning your candidates, client companies, and job orders at your fingertips without having to search through mountains of paper. This is where applicant tracking systems (ATS) can help you streamline your processes. If you are still using a generic contact manager or PIM, you really need to visit this section to see how tracking candidates and job orders in an ATS can improve your bottom line.
  • Utilize text search tools for searching though electronic resumes that are on your computer. Some of these tools even come with MS Windows. Of course the free versions are much less effective than these $100 to $200 programs that you have to purchase.
  • Now, if you have tried steps one and two and still haven't found a candidate, you move on to the Internet. The Internet is a jungle of information that with the proper attitude and training can provide enormous benefits. It is a great source of marketing to candidates and companies, as well as a means for finding resumes, developing leads, and posting jobs.
